The sandy beach is about a 10-minute walk from the cruise terminal. Developed by Carnival Corporation, Mahogany Bay is a purpose-built port designed to offer a seamless and immersive experience for cruise passengers. Because local residents eat iguanas, a resident created The Iguana Farm to protect and breed the dwindling population. The best time to see the iguanas is early afternoon at feeding time. The farm is in French Key, just past French Harbour, which is about seven miles northeast of the cruise port.
At port, there will be many drivers aggressively trying to get you to drive with them. We had heard many great things about the island and were eager to visit. Indeed, Roatan proved to be a wonderful cruise port and it is easy to see why it is gaining popularity. It also serves as a home-port to several of Carnival’s ships that sail from Roatán Island throughout the Caribbean Sea. With its stunning scenery and wide range of activities, Mahogany Bay has quickly become one of the most popular ports of call for Carnival Cruise Line passengers.
The shore excursion bus hub is on the right side of the terminal. On the left side, you will find the the taxi dispatch and the exist to the main street leading to Coxen Hole. Although within walking distance, there isn't much to see in this small town.
